Offsite co-ordination of utilities is challenging but project management is part of the standard service from GTC. That is why Taylor Wimpey was confident in placing the gas and electricity network construction for this suburban development with GTC.
Development: Swallownest, Sheffield
Customer: Taylor Wimpey
Sector: Residential
Utilities: Electricity, Gas
Swallownest is an exciting new housing development set off a busy high street location on the outskirts of Sheffield. The development offers householders the best of both worlds, with splendid rural views and links to the main transport routes of the M1 and M18.
The development of 86 houses and apartments required 700m of gas mains network, an electricity substation for the HV network, 900m of onsite electricity cables and 600m of offsite cabling.
Taylor Wimpey required the development to be mobilised swiftly to meet the demanding completion timescales for both private and social houses. With major offsite infrastructure delivery in a busy high street environment, GTC’s expert project management was essential in facilitating the co-ordination between Taylor Wimpey, local authorities, highways control and owners of the upstream network to complete the utilities infrastructure. Taylor Wimpey’s programme was key to this delivery and the site was successfully energised and the show house opened on time for public viewings.
“GTC is an exceptional company that delivers over and above their promises. GTC offers excellent experience, especially with their customer engagement throughout the life of a project. It is a pleasure working with all GTC team members and we look forward to continuing our successful working relationship.”
